I've been so busy lately! First I had that art related event to deal with, then the flu hit my little family hard and nearing the end of it I suddenly realized that I literally had one day to put the finishing touches on my art exhibit proposal before the deadline. I was dealing with a bad flu, sinusitis and two sick kids while trying to write a proposal and THAT right there was quite a tall order! Luckily I managed to get things together and handed it in just in the nick of time! So now I just wait and see what happens. I'm not sure when I hear back from the gallery to find out if I got in or not so I'm trying to just put it to the back of my mind and get on with life for now. In the mean time I'm drawing and painting and painting some more! Here's some of my latest work....

So I did it again! I signed myself up for yet another artistic endeavor that I have little time to prepare for. On November 7th there is to be an event geared towards newcomer artists and artisans to the Island. Basically it's a meet and greet to give us a chance to mingle with shop owners and the like with the hopes of making some connections. I will have a table which I'm to decorate and display my work on. So now I'm super busy getting more coloured pencil drawings together and also framing old work in preparation for the 7th. I would eventually like to put together a line of greeting cards and art prints to sell in local shops as well as getting my paintings into galleries. I'm hoping this event will get me on my way or at least give me some ideas. So what do you think? Are my coloured pencil illustrations greeting card worthy? And most importantly, would they sell? I decided to use it for Illustration Friday as the theme this week is scattered. The word scattered makes me think of leaves in autumn and since the illustration features leaves scattered on the floor I thought it would work! These are so fun to do! And they're great for those yucky days when I'm feeling poorly and am spending a decent amount of time on the couch. I used Prismacolor coloured pencils on 100% recycled paper.

I've been feeling poorly with a cold for a while, hence the silence in these here parts. While ill I did manage to get a few artistic things done. The following pictures are all Prismacolor colored pencil on 100% recycled paper. They are all around 3.5" x 5.5" in size and are FAR better in person! My scanner for some unknown reason doesn't seem to like the brown paper I sketch on and it always makes my drawings look a wee bit blah. Anyway, enjoy!
I'm itching to get my colored pencils and brown recycled paper pad out again! My colored pencil drawings, at least the big ones, are all inspired by the English Countryside thanks to my very favorite magazine the British edition of 'Country Living'. Today I spent a considerable amount of time scanning some of my drawings and resizing them to share on the internet. I actually had them on here already but what I had were bad photographs, scans are SO much better! Anyway, enough chatter! On to the pictures!
Over the weekend Oliver set up my scanner for me and today I got to work scanning a few older works to add to my Flickr photo stream. I thought I'd share a few here! Enjoy :)

Mixed-media 8" x 8" collage on canvas board. Dried flowers, antique and vintage paper, acrylic paint and more make this a very busy sort of collage!
This is a mixed media illustration I did on paper. It's a combination of patterned papers, fabric, colored pencil, acrylic paint, marking pen, pen and paper doily pieces.
This is a mixed-media collage on an 8" x 8" canvas board. Some of the materials used are vintage wallpaper, antique postcards, an antique floral print, vintage seam binding packaging, and even a dried flower I dried a couple years back.
So sorry about the lousy photos! They're cropped smaller than the originals, fuzzy, dark, and slightly warped looking! I had such a time of it trying to get the papers to lie flat and then battling with my 'after strong coffee' shaky hands and bad lighting I didn't do these drawings justice at all! But considering I've already tried getting decent photos of them for three days now I'm giving up and going with these. Both drawings are colored pencil on 100% recycled paper. 
LOL! I just realized that I signed my last name as Naumnn instead of Naumann on the last picture :)
